here we are again, at the end of another event filled year…
This year we had a mind blowing
Animal Collective April tour,
Gang Gang Dance released their 5th LP “Eye Contact” and bent minds while touring the world,
The Black Lips joined the Leg Up roster and took on the world (again),
XXXchange had an addition to his family as well as produced some songs with JD SAMSON, PEACHES and other secret projects,
Panda Bear released the stunning “TOMBOY” lp,
Leg up patched things up with the wonderful human named Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom,
Pam Garber joined the leg up work force and has kicked butt all day- everyday,
and now I’m happy to announce the addition of Nick Waterhouse to the Leg Up Roster!

Just returning from checking out Gang Gang Dance perform in Pioneertown and Los Angeles.
the desert show was magical!
the band played two new songs and they were given a new head dress that fell from the sky.
I watched a mix of Buffalo Bill wannabees and dudes who looked like extras from 127 hours, get loaded on beer and boomers, then run around the desert saloon all night. straight psychedlia.
Back in civilization; GGD made many more followers in LA this time around. Their headline set at culture collide was one of the tightest I’ve ever seen, full of
closed eyes and gyrating bodies for the entire hour set. LA got blissed out for a spell.

I’m usually not one for year end “bests”, but this such a great record I want to tell people about it.
You might think it would be to preachy and what ever else goes along with your typical stereotypes of Gospel music, but the beats and arrangements make it defy any obvious genre tagging. It’s simply great music with no baggage and the fact that people are reaching and reached higher planes through making and listening to this music makes it that much more enjoyable

Many thanks to everyone who came out for Avey Tare’s DOWN THERE release party.
Such good times and the room looked sci-fi swamp creeped out, thanks to Abby aka Abby Tare!
in the DJ booth: Rev Green brought the illbient, Degraw showed up with dubstep, Deakin revealed trancenoisestuffythings, and Scott Mou filled the room with house jams
On the stand up stage: Matt Baetz delivered some home tale stories about growing up with Avey , and Hannibal Buress hit a homerun with jokes about apple juice and cocaine.
on the Dance floor: ectasy seemed to be king

How many times have you walked the streets of Manhattan in late October playing ‘band roulette’?You know… walking into small clubs all over the lower east side to hear new bands that all the “hot” websites and blogs are calling the next big thing and when you finally get there; technical problems abound, band member’s stage fright is crippling, it looks like the first time they held their instruments and they definitely spent more time picking out their outfits than they did rehearsing… well my friend LEG UP HAS CREATED AN OASIS FOR YOU THIS YEAR!
Stop by MAX FISH on your arduous journey this year to get a much needed refueling of free food, cheap drinks and most importantly- get your face shredded off by a band that doesn’t give a fuck about style and doesn’t give a shit if your most visited website kissed their ass, that’s right… ENDLESS BOOGIE is playing!
These guys have more collective experience in the music biz than all the staff members of any failed indie label combined, not too mention they sleep with their instruments (which not only means they play the shit out of them, sometimes they forget to put their shoes on when they hit the stage!)
